The London Congestion Zone may have made driving around our great city a little more bearable, but let’s face it, if you’re trying to get to work, do some shopping, make it to the tennis, rugby, football or cricket on time, it’s still a complete pain in the exhaust.
Here at London Chauffeur UK, we’re always happy to take the strain and ensure your journey across London is as comfortable and relaxing as possible, but we appreciate how tiresome the daily grind can be for those of you who have to take to the wheel yourselves on a regular basis.
Weaving wearily through the West End, sitting stationery in Soho or crawling caterpillar-like across Clapham are all very real experiences in the lives of Londoners.
But how about we play ‘make believe’ for a few minutes? Let’s imagine that the streets of London are completely and utterly empty, and for comfort’s sake, it is not as the result of some movie like zombie invasion, but rather, everyone has just decided to stay at home for the day, including perhaps, the police, the traffic lights, all road signs and even good old Boris Johnson himself.
What fun you could have…
Especially so, because, as if by magic, you’ve suddenly found a Formula 1 car sitting in front of you. It could be a McLaren, a Ferrari or even Mercedes, we’ll leave that to your imagination, but whichever you choose there’s going to be absolutely nothing stopping you from jumping behind the wheel and careering around the city at speeds of more than 200mph. (Remember this is just an imaginary scenario – we don’t want any accidents!)
Anyway, we figure the best place to start would be at an airport. So often the location where long, jet-lagged experiences of the city begin. Just picture yourself speeding out of Heathrow’s Terminal 1, without another car, bus or bike in sight.
Before you knew it, you’d be heading top speed through Hammersmith, enjoying the wide open carriageways of the A4. Skid in for a quick pit-stop at the Apollo and maybe catch a top comedian before jumping back behind the wheel and roaring off towards Buckingham Palace. Of course, this is where the real fun begins. The Mall is yours alone and with a top F1 car at your disposal you’re going to have some real excitement speeding up and down the historic route. Let’s just hope Queen Elizabeth doesn’t spot you from the balcony as she enjoys an early morning breakfast. You don’t want to cause the Queen of England to choke on her cornflakes!
Next, it’s time to hit the West End and after a few fast circuits of Oxford Circus, Shaftesbury Avenue and a tight manoeuvre down Carnaby Street, it’s time for another swift tyre change whilst you stop to pick up a few exclusive bargains in the shops.
From there you could head north to Wembley or east to the newly built Olympic Stadium. Sadly, there’s no action taking place at either venue today, but that won’t stop you completing a few laps of either venue before pushing on to your final destination.
And where might that final destination be would you think? Where is the one place in London where drivers would simply swoon at the chance of driving, traffic free in a state-of-the-art F1 Car?
You’ve guessed it. The M25!
Far too many hours have been spent sitting patiently on the orbital nightmare we know as Britain’s busiest motorway, so now it’s time to get your own back.
Do as many laps as you like. You should complete the 117 mile circuit in just over 30 minutes. It’ll make a real change from the 30 minutes it has been taking to drive a mile or two. Why not try clockwise and anti-clockwise routes and see which you can complete quickest.
Finally, it’s back to Heathrow where it all began. Drop off your car, board your plane and fall asleep in your luxurious, first-class, transatlantic cabin.
Before you know it, you’ll have woken up, back home in your own bed, desperately wishing it hadn’t all been such a fantastic dream.
Then it’s time to give us a call. We can’t give you 200mph speeds but we can certainly deliver you the most efficient and professional chauffeur service in London.
