Is Your Accommodation Booked For The London Olympics ?
With the Olympics just a matter of days away now, we know that many of our clients already have their accommodation all sorted out. Lots of our upcoming bookings are to transport Olympic VIPs from the airport to their hotels and if the level of London hotel transfers we currently have booked in is anything to go by, those hotels are going to be very crammed over the next few weeks.
But if you are planning a last minute trip to London over the coming days and you haven’t secured your accommodation yet…
Well firstly, we don’t envy you!
But secondly, we are here to help.
We all know that central London hotels are going to be jam-packed over the coming weeks, but there are still some top class London hotels showing availability. And if they don’t suit, or you can’t get into your desired establishment, then there are a range of other possibilities open to you.
We’ve checked out the availability on some of the best hotels in London on the opening day of the Olympics and the good news is that, if you act fast, you can still get into many of them.
The Grange at St Pauls, The Montcalm at Brewery and the Sheraton Tower are all 5-star London hotels which can take you in on the opening day. And if you’re after something slightly less pricy, the Marriott at Regents Park or the Shaftesbury at Hyde Park are both 4-star options, currently showing availability.
If you are in town for the London Olympics and aren’t familiar with the City, it’s going to be very worthwhile figuring out exactly where your event is taking place, before you go ahead and book last-minute accommodation. The events are very spread out across London and the surrounding areas, so you may be a bit disappointed if you’re staying right next to the Olympic Park but have tickets for the football at Hampden Park in Glasgow!
Sticking within London though, you would still be wise to get as close to your venue as possible. Here at London Chauffeur UK, we’re more than happy to escort you from venue to venue but the closer you are staying to the actual events you’re here to see, the more relaxing your visit will be.
The rowing events are taking place to the west of London at Lee Valley, whilst the on-road cycle racing will be held at Boxhill in Surrey. Even Wimbledon, where the tennis will be held, can be a little tricky to get to if you’re staying in East London, so if you can find accommodation with an SW19 postcode, you should snap it up!
Of course, in this day and age, it’s not all about hotels. If you’re thinking about something maybe a little less expensive or just want something more homely, there are an abundance of domestic properties up for rental during the Olympic Games.
AirBnB.com is a fantastic website for tracking down room shares, private rooms or even entire apartment and home rentals. Many Londoners are holidaying in the coming weeks and are keen to take the opportunity to earn some extra spending money by renting out their homes during the Olympics.
Finally, don’t forget that whether you already have your London accommodation booked, or you’re still trying to find something last-minute, London Chauffeur UK always have availability for our most valued clients and will take the stress out of all your London transportation needs. From airport meet and greet collections and London hotel transfers, to venue transportation and corporate travel.
