Don’t let your spirits be dampened in London this week…
Is everyone enjoying the lovely summer we’re having in London this year?
Ok, we’re joking. The weather has been worse than awful so far, but fingers crossed that things will pick up in time for the 2012 Olympics and before we know it we’ll all be reminiscing about that, ‘long hot summer of 2012’.
Anyway, on a more positive note, the last of the remaining London hosepipe bans has been lifted so you can all get out there and start jet-washing your cars again.
All this recent wet weather has made us start thinking about what visitors to our great city can get up to on rainy days.
Yes, yes, we know London is abound with museums, galleries and other historic buildings but what about those who are looking for a bit more excitement in their day?
Wimbledon is over, which is a shame because the water couldn’t get in there, and if you don’t have a ticket by now then you’ve probably got little chance of getting into any of the big Olympic events. Unless you fancy women’s football?
So, we’ve established it’s raining and historic tours just aren’t going to cheer you up.
What else can you do?
Well, if it’s cheering up you’re after then the London Comedy scene is now amongst the best in the world. The laughter never ends on any night of the week, and there’s just so much to choose from.
The Comedy Store in Piccadilly Circus has live stand up shows on every night of the week and you can catch a real mix of well known names to up-an-coming new kids on the block. If you’re feeling adventurous, The Top Secret Comedy Club in Covent Garden puts on shows most nights of the week and you just never know what you’re going to get.
Speaking of secrets, what about trying the Secret Cinema?
Have you heard about this?
Basically, you aren’t told where the film will be showing, (until the very last minute), or even what film will be shown. It’s the ultimate in edginess and the most recent film was shown in a warehouse near Euston station.
At least you’d have been dry!
Of course one of the perks of running London’s no.1 chauffeur driven car service means that we’re always one step ahead of the game and if it’s the secret cinema you’re after, we’ll be the first to find out the location for you and ensure your night starts and ends with luxurious transportation. Even if the bit in between involves you being stuck in a warehouse watching a horror film!
If comedy and warehouses aren’t your thing then how about mixing it with the stars over at Madame Tussauds? Let’s face it, not many celebs are going to be putting up with the current weather we’re having and are probably slapping on the sun-cream in St Tropez as we speak.
So your best chance to rub shoulders and wax lyrical with the likes of Prince William, Colin Firth, Kate Winslet, or even Captain Jack Sparrow, would be right here in the heart of London. (It’s not far from that Euston warehouse either!)
All things considered we’re hoping for a change in fortunes and for the sun to start shining within the next few days. How lovely it would be if we could spend the next blog advising you on things to do in London when it’s scorching.
No matter what the weather, if you need fast, reliable, London transportation, London Chauffeur UK are here to ensure it never rains on your parade.
